Recognizing Outstanding Faculty & Staff

As the 2023-2024 school year ended, St. Luke’s faculty and staff gathered to recognize their outstanding peers who went above and beyond this school year. You could feel the gratitude and excitement during the awards presentation hosted in the Seldin Performing Arts Center.

This year’s award winners include:

The Tracy B. Duncan Innovation Award: Alexa Foley, Academic Technologist
Presented to an innovative St. Luke’s community member who had a significant impact on the student experience and the development of a culture of innovation at St. Luke’s

Dr. Joseph Kidd Excellence in Teaching Award: Sarah Westerberg-Egan, Middle School History Teacher
Given to a full-time teacher who exemplifies the ideals of St. Luke’s through excellence in the classroom, service to the entire school community, and dedication to the well-being and growth of St. Luke’s students 
 
Mark C. Davis Award: Laurel Scarozza, Administrative Operations Manager, MS/US Divisions
Given to a full-time faculty or staff member whose contribution to St. Luke’s far exceeds expectations, thereby enriching the life and effectiveness of the school
 
Edward Scovner Excellence in Middle School Teaching Award: Elaine Juran, Middle School English Teacher
This award goes to a Middle School teacher who inspires students to fulfill their potential, demonstrates a deep commitment to and affection for students, and possesses a distinctive style and approach to teaching. (This award was presented during the Eighth Grade Promotion Ceremony on June 6.)

Retirees—100 Years of Service: Three faculty and staff members who are retiring this year after more than 100 years of combined service to St. Luke’s School were also recognized. Camille DeMarco-Havens, Upper School Health and Wellness Coordinator, Colin “Bucky” Buchanan, Upper School Math Teacher, and Rich Kaechele, Facilities Technician: thank you for your unwavering commitment and dedication to St. Luke’s School. You will sorely be missed. The retirees were celebrated earlier this spring at a special dinner.
